About the event
Slieve Donard is the highest peak in Ulster (849m) and 7th highest in Ireland. Definitely one to add to your bragging list!
The route is approximately 10km. We will take our time, take lots of photos, take it all in and enjoy plenty of breaks.
The incredible views from the great cairn at the summit are so worth the strenuous pull up the final ascent along the iconic Mourne Wall, as we head left for Donard. (Commedagh is to the right - one for another day!).
Navigation is straightforward, but just be prepared for the last very strenuous pull of the final section. Not gonna lie, it is intense, but sooooo worth the views! And Bowie ran up it no bother!
This hike will take us approx. 5 - 5.5 hours round trip (allowing for summit sambos and lots of breaks!).
This is an out and back route.
